A Practical Move-Out Cleaning Plan
Coordinate the empty property, optional interiors and handover details without last-minute assumptions.

Work backwards from your handover
Begin with the date keys need to change hands, then separate moving, cleaning and inspection arrangements. Cleaning availability must be confirmed rather than assumed to fit a narrow gap between a moving truck and an appointment. If a lease or purchase agreement includes requirements, review them yourself and share the relevant cleaning priorities during the scope discussion.
Plan for an empty property
Move-out cleaning is planned around an empty home. Arrange for belongings, loose items and unwanted furniture to be removed before the visit. Check that utilities needed for the agreed work are available and explain access, parking and any building entry procedures. A room that is still full of boxes may not offer the access required for its planned cleaning.
Discuss the kitchen interiors early
An empty refrigerator or oven is not automatically part of the standard scope. Appliance interiors and empty cabinet interiors are optional quoted extras. Identify what you need before the cleaning plan is confirmed, and make sure the appliance condition and safe access are discussed. Do not expect equipment disassembly or specialist repair as part of household cleaning.
Keep the room plan practical
Bathrooms, kitchen surfaces, floors and reachable interior details provide a useful starting point. Note delicate finishes, restricted areas and anything damaged that needs to be left alone. The 60-Point Clean & Check can help describe residential priorities, but not every item applies to an empty property or every cleaning level.
Separate cleaning from other work
Painting, repairs, hazardous cleanup and construction-related work are different activities. Do not schedule household cleaning as though it includes them. Where other trades are involved, consider whether their work will be complete before the agreed visit so freshly attended surfaces are not immediately affected by ongoing work.
Confirm what completion means
Review agreed extras and any access limitations alongside the planned areas. A cleaning visit is not a guarantee of a returned deposit or a particular inspection result; those outcomes depend on agreements and decisions outside the cleaning scope. A clear work order and realistic handover plan make the process easier to coordinate.
